It would be awesome to spend some time educating people about the importance of/export dynamics of fisheries in the US. For example, most of the highly consumed species in the US are IMPORTED and people think they are eating “local.” In Oregon, 90 percent of seafood is exported. It’s wild.
Excellent idea and you are totally correct -- it is bonkers how much fish we ship out of the country rather than consuming it here, and that we import so much rather than consuming what's in our waters. I'll see if we can do that scaling and create that understanding for each region that we cover.
